Three Stars (and one dead guy): McGowan shitty no more

Three Stars (and one dead guy): McGowan shitty no more

Today’s studs:

1. DUSTIN MCGOWAN – The Toronto hurler, once dubbed “a young Curt Schilling,” is finally living up to his promise. After rolling up a handful of quality starts this season, he tossed a one-hit shutout on Sunday, losing the no-no in the ninth. Mad props, even if there’s a 28.6 per cent chance his sideburns actually pitched the shutout, not him.

2. KEN GRIFFEY JR. – Junior was in vintage form last weekend, coupling tape-measure homers with his trademark runway model strut…and doing it all against Seattle. What the fuck, Mariners fans? Why did you cheer for the man who abandoned you? You hate him, remember? Another victim for Alzheimer’s.

3. CASEY BRAMLET – The NFL Europa pivot threw four TD passes to lead the Hamburg Sea Devils to their first World Bowl championship. Not among the 48,000 in attendance was CFL legend Damon Allen, who was cut from Hamburg’s practice squad during training camp.

TODAY’S DEAD GUY: Rod Beck.
